Doug Owens has extensive trial experience in complex commercial, employment and environmental litigation.
Owens has tried fifteen large cases averaging two weeks in length, won all but two of them at trial, and successfully defended those victories on appeal. One of the two losses was reversed on appeal.
Employment Litigation

He represents clients in cases based on Title VII, age and disability discrimination, workers compensation, whistleblower claims, internal investigations, wage and hour class actions, workplace injuries not covered by workers compensation, and grievance procedures.
Defense
He has also handled cases representing large defense contractors, such as EG&G Defense Materials, Science Applications International Corporation, and Battelle Memorial Institute, carrying out the mission to destroy the Army’s largest stockpile of chemical weapons.
Environmental Law
Owens has handled high-profile cases including winning an injunction ordering the state of Utah to make the Legacy Highway comply with environmental laws (and recovered attorneys fees against the state).
Diet Drug Litigation
Additionally, Owens has represented Wyeth in diet drug litigation, General Electric, Zions Bank, American Express, and other companies in cases involving complex scientific and liability issues. Doug has extensive experience working with expert witnesses including accountants, physicians, and engineers.
